TBH (to be honest), I hate reading really really long reviews because I feel like you can say what you need to say with shorter sentences. That’s what I’m going to do: give you my top ten moments from season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale. Short and sweet. What I’d like for YOU to do is tell me your top 10 (or top 8 or 5 or whatever!) moments afterwards so we can discuss the awesomeness that is THT.
Alright, for those of you who don’t know…
The Handmaid’s Tale is a very near future dystopian show based off the book of the same title by Margaret Atwood. Immediately, you will be drawn in by the main character, June, a young woman who was taken from her husband in what they call “The Crusades,” had her daughter stolen from her, and then forcibly became a Handmaid—a fertile woman who will be in service to an infertile Wife and Husband in their creepily realistic Old-Testament Christian society. It’s America, but if extremist got ahold of our government and made the Old-Testament concrete law. It’s intense and overwhelming at times. But absolutely thought-provoking and breathtaking. The acting is superb and the way they tell the story of defeat and rebellion is amazing. You will not be disappointed… you know, unless you hate great story lines, plot twists, and intense eye-staring into the camera.

it wouldn’t be a review of The Handmaid’s Tale without a picture of June staring intensely in the camera
If you’ve never seen it, please don’t go much further! There will be spoilers. And you need to watch season 3. It was cray-cray, and I’d hate to ruin it for you. TRIGGER WARNING: There is rape and torture—sometimes shown, sometimes insinuated. I can tell you that the intense subject matter does help push the plot forward and isn’t just for show. Sometimes those topics are used as shocker plot points, but it’s needed to tell this story, unfortunately. I promise, the main character, June, (as well as her awe-inspiring side characters) helps to make this show REVOLUTIONARY.
So, skiddaddle, my little naïve handmaids and watch the dang show so we can geek out together. Then come back and tell me your top ten!

Under his eye
Alright revolutionaries. Here are my top 10 favorite moments of season 3. Let me know if you agree or if you have some additions you think I should add.
THE CHAOTIC GOOD, THE CHAOTIC NEUTRAL, AND THE LAWFUL EVIL
ONE:
When June (a.k.a Offred or Ofjoseph) made her walking partner (Ofmatthew, I think) go batshit and try to kill Aunt Lydia in the grocery market… what?! That was absolutely wild! Then she got shot down… this essentially forced June to go batshit as well while “praying” for her brain-dead walking partner to birth her baby in the hospital, but still…

I tried to find a good image of that wild smirk she does before Ofmatthew tries to shoot Aunt Lydia—god I wishhhhh
TWO:
THOSE CREEPY ASS TV SPECIALS FROM GILEAD! Those were so gross. What did Commander Waterford and Serena think that was going to accomplish? It only made them look more insane than before.
THREE:
This next scene reminds me of The Awakening by Kate Chopin—did you have to read it in your women’s literature class? Me, too! (Even if you didn’t, you should read it. It’s sad, but great.) Serena walking into the cold lake and seemingly ‘washing’ herself of her sadness and depression. I don’t know if it worked because she remained pretty sad throughout the whole series unless she saw Nicole—which is a whole ‘nother basket of worms I’d love to get into one day.
FOUR:
WHEN JUNE *SNIFFS* RECORDS HERSELF ON THE TAPE *CHOKES ON TEARS* AND IS ABLE TO SEND IT TO LUKE *SOBS* AND HE FINALLY HEARS HER SAY THAT SHE LOVES HIM AND THAT SHE *WAILS* WILL NEVER NOT THINK ABOUT HIM. That shit got me bad. Did you cry, too??
FIVE:
Nick’s bitch-a$$ not telling June about how ‘amazing’ he was as a Gilead soldier… I hope that we get some reconciliation next season. I’d love to see June go OFF.
SIX:
Crazy June attempting to stab Serena in the hospital! I totally pulled the home alone face during that part. But then, surprisingly, Serena protected her and it was that moment that broke her insanity and allowed June to see clearly. I really loved the last half of that episode.

The Moment when June thought it would be good idea to stab Serena
SEVEN:
Excuse me if I’m wrong, but didn’t June stab the President of Gilead with a stiletto?? HAHAHAHA that guy and his family was so creepy. I’m so happy June was able to do him in. Especially after seeing those Washington, D.C. handmaids… that gave me actual nightmares.
EIGHT:
Any scene with June and Serena, I absolutely loved. The smoke scene in the pool (“You have influence,” June tells her. Serena scoffs lightly. “To a point.” June stares back, daringly, and says, “So, move the point.” *heart eyes*) The scenes before the creepy TV specials. When Serena visited her at Lawrence’s. The hospital scene. I wish they had more!!
NINE:
Serena turning the freaking tables and selling out Fred to the American government! HA! I hate that dude so much. He’s just such a hypocrite, and exactly the epitome of a guy in that situation oblivious to his hypocrisy as he screws a Jezebel while telling everyone that he misses his wife and blah, blah, blah. That dude deserves to get everything that’s coming to him plus some. So, does Serena, but she’s more interesting so I’d like to keep her around just a little longer.
TEN:
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOMENT OF THE HANDMAID’S TALE IS… When Lawrence is trying to take his house (and the gun) back in the last episode. He yells at her when she tells him, ‘no.’ Then June looks quizzically at him, holding the weapon in her capable hands, and says, “Now, go find me a fucking map.” ZINGER. I cheered at that moment. I also cheered/cried when she sacrificed herself to save all of those children. I just… love her so much. (And of course, I can’t find a good meme—WHY HASN’T ANYONE MADE A MEME!)
Now, guess who is THE CHAOTIC GOOD, THE CHAOTIC NEUTRAL, AND THE LAWFUL EVIL from my list lol
There are so many moments in this season that I’d love to touch on, but we just don’t have the time. Tell me what you think should be on my list in the comment section below! Thanks for reading!
